This site's History and maybe Future

Hello out there in internet land! Alan Darge here. If you don't already know, I am the webmaster for this site.I also maintain many other commercial and personal sites, two of which I also own along with this site. I registered (purchased) the domain name dargefamily.com in November, 2000. If all goes well, this domain name and website will endure forever. It has taken me literally hundreds of hours to create all of the pages on this site and maintain them and haven't received any thanks yet, but I'll keep going.

Somewhere down the road, I will need to recruit a volunteer from out there to take over the website maintenance duties. In other words, replace me. Even though I'm irreplaceable. Yeah, right. We all know about the life expectancy of a male Darge.

It's important to note that this site can go on literally forever if the annual fees are paid and there is a living, breathing webmaster to take care of it.

This site is actually a commercial grade site and is hosted on a far away web server. I pay the annual hosting fee which includes the capability of numerous email addresses. I think we have enough capacity so that all of you can have a perpetual POP3 email here if you want one. Of course, you should always maintain a "garbage collecting" email address at hotmail or yahoo or wherever. You know, an email address that you can give to whoever you know is going to spam the heck out of you. We all know what spam is, right? It's the other white meat. No, really it's unsolicited junk email.

All email addresses you find on this site are displayed with Java script and hidden from those awful "spiders" that crawl the websites and harvest email address to sell to the spammers.In other words, your email address is safe from the automated bad guys.

As usual, I have been trying out some different programming ideas on this site which may be evidenced from time to time by the different crap that you may see here. Or don't see here. Sometimes this stuff doesn't work with all the different browsers out there. If you don't see what you think you should see, let me know. I'm not talking about some pictures that you want posted here and haven't submitted yet.

I'm taking a guess as to the information presented here. I know stuff is missing or may be posted inaccurately. Help! Send me an email

I already have quite a bit of information about many of you out there, but I must have confirmation directly from you before I post your addresses, phone numbers or email addresses. There may be hit men, the police, or ex-wives looking for some of you and you don't want to reveal this info. Seriously, I understand the sensitivity of the information and you may have your reason for it not being displayed for the all world to see. Your choice. Just let me know one way or the udder.

There is an exception to this basic rule. The genealogy pages. The information on these pages are of public record and I really don't care if you don't want your name, birth date, etc., being posted there. You were born into this family and you're stuck. Deal with it.

So come join us. Send me your contact information, as a start, and I will get back to you for more info. We may all end up with a really cool thing here. Maybe not. I'll try, but not forever.

I find it interesting that as of July 26, 2009, I have received just a few emails regarding this website. Interesting indeed. I need your interest and support. If I don't get it, down it goes.
